Sept 2013 Newsletter

Dear Friends,
The Red River Valley Dulcimer Club will meet on Saturday September 21, 2013 at 10 AM (or earlier) at David’s Dulcimers in Bennington Oklahoma.  This will be a working/cleanup meeting to get things ready for Winter Creek Reunion.  A lot of grounds work will happen that day and anything else that needs to be done while we have a “group” of people together.  Bring your lunch and plenty of water to drink as it is still very warm.  We can’t tell you how important your attendance at this meeting is going to be.  As most of you know we have several of our members on the sick and/or mending list. So we need your muscles to help us get this together. There will be some festival planning discussed also during lunch.  Bring your instruments as we will take time to practice.  Annette will work with the MD’s and we will have someone available to work with HD’s.
Winter Creek Reunion is coming up really fast!!!  It won’t be long now and we will be at the festival enjoying the cooler (we hope!!) air filled with music.  Have you made your plans to be there??  Have you sent in your registration??  Your vendor’s registration??  All these things are very important to us for headcounts for meals, workshops and camping.  So if you haven’t sent in your registration please do so today!!  Our RV camping with hook ups  is full at this time but we have plenty of RV dry and  tent camping available.  Master Works is just down the road and has RV camping available with electric and water.  Call them directly at 1-580-847-2273 to make reservations. If you prefer a motel there are several in nearby Durant, OK.
We are so excited about the entertainers we have this year!!!  Cathy Barton and Dave Para, Guy and Sharrie George, Joe Collins, Betty Scott and Suzanne & Jim Hale!!!  Plus Margaret Wright, the Sawmill Vagrants, Dana Hamilton and Russell Cook with our own David and Annette Lindsey!!  We have so many great workshops to offer with such a variety of instruments!!   Our Vendor list keeps growing too!!  This year we will have Chuck Daniels the “Auto Harp Doctor” with us!!  So if your Auto Harp needs work bring it!!  This is going to be so much fun you won’t know where to go first.  We will be offering our Master Classes again on Thursday afternoon with Joe Collins on MD, Guy and Sharrie George on HD, and Betty Scott on Auto Harp.  So come early and get in on these classes.  For more information about our featured entertainers go to our website www.rrvdc.com.
Our raffle is coming together also.  We always have so many great things to raffle.  This year we have something very special, a beautiful quilt donated and made by Carolyn Gilbert from Gorman, TX and Elaine Houston from Vernon, TX. These ladies worked many long hours on this quilt, and our own Laurel Hamrick, Germanine Designs in Denison, TX, did the WCR embroidery in the middle panel.  You are for sure going to want to buy more raffle tickets for this!! A huge thank you to these ladies for a beautiful job!
